Project Detail

1400 Airport Way Building

Seattle, WA

  • Architect: Page & Beard Architects
  • Total Area: 7,000 square feet

Creating MRJ’s current office space involved the total rehabilitation and second floor addition of an existing seventy year old building. The building’s interior currently displays an open office concept including exposed roof structure, sandblasted old growth beams and columns, and stained and stamped concrete floors. The interior details, along with the revised exterior façade, complement the original building’s traditional design.

The project represented several challenges to our building team which included the reconstruction of the existing deteriorated foundation system. This was accomplished economically and effectively by utilizing pin pilings, driven with jackhammers adjacent to the existing foundation. The pin pilings were incorporated with the existing foundation, resulting in a reinforced, stabilized, and upgraded foundation built to stay.
