As MRJ Constructors transitions through its ownership change, we would like to recognize the company's founding partners: Rolf Hogger, Martin Hogger and Ed Rice.
Since 1992, MRJ Constructors' founding partners worked diligently to build the company from an initial start-up to where it is today.
In Memory of Rolf Hogger
Rolf was one of the original founding partners of MRJ in 1992 with a vision to build a client-centric construction company. The company’s long-standing commitment to communication, integrity and professionalism stems from his leadership. He brought a unique talent for increasing the usability and design aesthetic of every building he worked on.
Rolf enjoyed kite boarding, mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking and traveling the world with his family. He held a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pacific Lutheran University.
Martin Hogger
Martin is one of the founding partners who established the commercial division of MRJ.
Until the ownership transition is complete, Martin will continue to act as MRJ Constructors' CEO, overseeing the overall financial aspects of the business and its ownership transition process.
Martin has been in the construction industry since 1986 starting as a Field Engineer working for a heavy construction contractor building Navy piers and bridges. In 1989, he began working for GLY Construction as a Project Engineer and was promoted to a Project Manager working on commercial and industrial projects in the greater Puget Sound area. In 1995, Martin left his previous position as Project Manager to launch the commercial division of MRJ Constructors.
Martin has diversified experience in all levels of commercial, retail, industrial, heavy, and residential construction. His primary focus at MRJ was acting as the Chief estimator, building and maintaining relationships with great clients, marketing and preconstruction services.
Martin worked with clients and design teams on their projects from the early developmental stage through the conceptual estimating and into the preconstruction phase of the project, providing alternative building systems and cost alternates to ensure that the client’s budget meets their expectations.
Outside of work, Martin enjoys all outdoor activities including mountain biking, wind sports, skiing and stand up paddleboarding. He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management and a minor in Business Administration.
Ed Rice
Ed joined MRJ in 1997 as a partner to help expand our commercial division. Ed has garnered extensive experience in technically demanding commercial, industrial, retail, residential, and heavy construction.
Currently, Ed is MRJ Constructors' acting President and works with Barry Chan and Chris Smith to oversee daily operations of the company as they take over the ownership role.
Ed was responsible for oversight of field operations and project management, including safety and direct labor. He worked with project Superintendents to resolve issues that arise during the construction of a project. He was responsible for contract review, insurance and safety.
Ed’s hobbies include biking, skiing, wind sports, traveling and playing with his dog. He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Central Washington University.
