Brooks Running Trailhead Flagship store
In 2014, one of the World's premier running footwear and apparel retailers, Brooks Sports, began preliminary design of a 5,400 square foot Flagship retail store with Gensler Architects and Capstone CM Services. The goal was to create a fun, unique and visually stimulating retail environment designed around the Northwest runner, while providing a top-notch service expertise area within the retail store to ensure an exceptional shopping experience.
To help Brooks Sports achieve their vision, MRJ Constructors was selected over many larger Northwest based General Contractors to provide their expertise during the pre-construction and construction phases of the project. MRJ's emphasis on quality, creativity, attention to detail and its ability to be nimble throughout the process was a perfect fit for the Brooks project team. MRJ personnel worked diligently, thoughtfully and creatively with Brooks, Gensler Architects and Capstone CM Services to help create their vision. Working together collaboratively, the project team designed, budgeted and built a project that met the architectural, financial and schedule goals of Brooks Sports.
One of Brooks Sports primary goals with the space was to bring the outdoors into the store. To achieve this goal, features were added to the design such as grinding and polishing the concrete deck, installing overhead power lines, construction of an "exterior" brick veneer wall so the interior space has an outside feel, a self-sustaining living green wall and adding a 50' long overhead steel pedestrian bridge in the middle of the store. All the millwork within the store consists of either reclaimed material from old growth beams salvaged from Capitol Hill or wind fallen logs from Bainbridge Island. The product display walls consist of over two thousand five hundred 8"x8" wind fallen cedar squares which were creatively assembled to allow Brooks to reconfigure the wall for various product display arrangements. The beer garden tables were custom fabricated out of reclaimed old growth Doug Fir beams. These tables were designed to allow Brooks the ability to rearrange them for future events held in the space.
The new Brooks Trailhead Flagship Store is located in Fremont adjacent to the Burke Gilman Trail on the retail level of Brooks Sports corporate
